Nore Soda delivers a high-quality brown soda bread that is a traditional favourite in Ireland. It has a green/brown hue in the crumb, distinctive flavour and a sweet, creamy aroma. Just add buttermilk (or if you cannot get buttermilk, full fat milk will do fine). It makes traditional brown soda bread in the tin or oven bottom, fruited soda or seeded soda bread. It also makes a delicious brown scone by adding a small amount of fat and sugar. No added yeast. No added preservatives. PS. It’s named after the river where our mill is located.

| Suggested Recipe | Nore Soda Bread Mix: 1000g Buttermilk: 750g Shortening: 45g (optional) Suggested Method: 1. Using beater attachment on Hobart style mixer, add fat to mix and mix until blended. 2. Add buttermilk, scrape down and mix for one minute on first speed. 3. Weigh out at 450 grams each and put into greased tins (makes 4 loaves). 4. Slash each loaf lengthways and sprinkle with wholemeal. 5. Bake for thirty-five minutes at 230°C. |
